SEO & AEO
SEO and AEO for E-commerce: What Actually Changes?
Answer-engine optimisation does not replace SEO. Search and AI systems still need accessible pages, unambiguous entities and evidence that supports a useful answer. The practical change is to design content for retrieval and citation as well as ranking.

Start with indexability
A page cannot become a dependable citation if systems cannot retrieve its main text. Important content should be delivered in HTML, linked internally and represented by one canonical URL.
Answer specific decision questions
Definitions are useful, but buyers also need comparisons, constraints, methods, evidence and situations where an approach is unsuitable. Clear headings and concise answer blocks make these passages easier to retrieve.
Strengthen entities and evidence
Use consistent organisation and service information, accurate structured data, primary-source citations and transparent authorship. Schema should describe visible content, not substitute for it.
Measure citations alongside search
Monitor indexed pages, non-brand query coverage, qualified visits and leads. Use supported citation reporting such as Bing Webmaster Tools AI Performance where available.
Practical checklist
- Deliver important text without requiring JavaScript
- Use descriptive headings and direct answers
- Cite authoritative primary sources
- Keep structured data consistent with visible content
- Track indexing, search and AI citation activity
